MGM and Macao University of Tourism Development Foundation Held Donation Agreement Signing Ceremony
MACAU, September 9 - The MGM and Macao University of Tourism Development Foundation Donation Agreement Signing Ceremony was held at the Forward Building on Taipa campus of the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) on 9 September 2026. Dr. Cheung Kin Chung, Chair of the Executive Committee of UTM Development Foundation, and Mr. Kenneth Feng, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, signed the donation agreement. MGM has donated MOP 1 million to the UTM Development Foundation. The donation will support UTM’s academic development and institutional advancement, including optimising the learning environment, enhancing teaching and research quality, and expanding international cooperation, to drive the high‑quality development of UTM.
Ms. Cen Jiayi, Director of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Wong Chio In, Head of Department of Educational Research and Planning of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, together with Dr. Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan, Rector of UTM, officiated at the ceremony. In addition, members of the UTM Development Foundation and the UTM Council, representatives of the UTM Student Union, as well as faculty and students, attended the event.
Dr. Cheung Kin Chung expressed gratitude for MGM’s generous donation. He noted that Macao is advancing the “1+4” appropriate economic diversification strategy, and the tourism and leisure industry is in urgent need of high‑calibre interdisciplinary talent. As a benchmark enterprise in Macao’s integrated tourism and leisure industry, MGM is long‑rooted in Macao and gives back to the community, actively engaging in local education and public‑welfare initiatives. This donation serves as an important bond for industry‑academia integration between the two sides. It is expected to convert industrial resources into resources for talent development, nurture more cultural‑tourism talents that meet industry demands, and achieve a tripartite win‑win outcome for higher education institutions, enterprises and the industry.

This marks the first in a series of donation ceremonies with integrated tourism and leisure enterprises. Further similar events will be organised in partnership with more leisure enterprises to pool resources from all sectors of society in support of UTM’s development. These efforts will help Macao integrate into national development initiatives and consolidate the talent base for high‑quality cultural‑tourism development in the Greater Bay Area.
